I’m Louie Montan, a New York native who came to Venice thinking I’d finally slow down after more than 40 years as a wedding DJ. But slowing down never quite stuck.
Before long, I found myself driving for Aston Gardens, a luxury retirement community, where I spent my days helping residents get where they needed to go.
What I didn’t expect was how much I’d come to value the people themselves – their stories, their humor, their hard-earned wisdom. When COVID hit and everything paused, those rides disappeared, but the sense of purpose didn’t.
As life picked back up, I continued serving the community through Sarasota County OnDemand, and it became clear to me that people needed more than just a ride—they needed someone they could trust, someone resourceful, someone who genuinely cared.
That’s always been how I’m wired. Whether it was teaching myself to build websites (now managing over 20, including venicebusinessdirectory.com) or building a network of reliable local professionals – from landscapers to roofers – I’ve always found a way to connect people with the right solution.
I could’ve kept working for someone else, doing things the standard way. Instead, I chose to build something more personal—because around here, being a good neighbor still means something.

My parents have passed on now, but when they retired far from where I lived, there were times I worried about the little things — who would help if something needed fixing, get them to a doctor’s appointment, or set up a new phone or TV. Thankfully, they had a good neighbor. He wasn’t a professional service, just a kind person nearby who helped when something came up. He’d give them a ride, help arrange a contractor, or stop by to figure out a piece of technology that had them scratching their heads.
Knowing someone nearby was looking out for them meant the world to me. They were still independent and living life on their own terms, but they had a safety net — and as their son, that gave me real peace of mind. That experience is what inspired Venice Neighbor Services. Not everyone has family close by, and sometimes all you really need is a trustworthy neighbor who can lend a hand. My goal is simple: to be that dependable local person you can call when you need help with errands, appointments, home check-ins, or the little things that make life easier.
